Organizations That Help Women in Communication Arts

There are countless resources for women in diverse areas of communication arts, here are a few organizations that cater to the unique needs of women in the industry.

Association for Women in Communications (WOMCOM)
This organization supports the professional growth and success of its members in the following industries: print and broadcast journalism, television and radio production, film, advertising, public relations, marketing, graphic design, multi-media design, and photography. Resources include a job board, mentor program, national conferences, recognition of professional excellence awards and national association chapters. They have professional chapters in Rochester and Westchester/Fairfield, NY and Northern New Jersey and student chapters at Cornell University, Hofstra University and Syracuse University to name a few.

Women Make Movies
According to its website the organization was, "established in 1972 to address the under representation and misrepresentation of women in the media industry, Women Make Movies is a multicultural, multiracial, non-profit media arts organization which facilitates the production, promotion, distribution and exhibition of independent films and videotapes by and about women."
